Joseph Fiksel

Joseph Fiksel is a Professor Emeritus at The Ohio State University whose work has advanced both the science and practice of sustainability and resilience. With Bhavik Bakshi, he co-founded the Center for Resilience at Ohio State. Previously he was Vice President for Life Cycle Management at Battelle, providing expertise to the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and other international associations, companies, and governments. He has also served as Special Assistant for Sustainability at the U.S. EPA, working to embed systems thinking into the agency’s programs. Presently he is a Visiting Scholar at George Washington University’s Environmental & Energy Management Institute, where he offers an online course on Enterprise Resilience. Joseph holds a BSc from MIT, and a PhD in Management Science & Engineering from Stanford University.
